The rule in building the new is dictated by the missing pieces of the existing urban tissue, by duplicating the existing pattern of what is and was build, of build and empty, and translating it into the new build elements.
This project is an answer to the national competition of urban planning and design – URBAN IMPLANT – regarding the remodeling of the Socola Blv. in Iasi, Romania. The aim of the competition was to generate a contemporary multi-use building that should redefine the urban presence, the functional structure and the circulation paths of the site.
The main theme is that of a funnel that opens towards the garden-park and the fortress of Deva and closes towards the outer circulation belt of the city.
The kindergarten is a place for playing and learning in equal measure. The color becomes the main theme for the project and for the class rooms. The volume is linear, following the slope of the terrain, molding itself on the green surface.
